At Via Cino da Pistoia, Florence, a kitchen transforms a wall into a sculptural element: travertine, birch, and stainless steel define a functional yet monumental space.
The kitchen maximizes the available area by articulating a single wall as the core spatial character. The travertine countertop, left raw, geometrically sculpts the stone while extending into the room, asserting a strong presence. The hood is integrated into a conical projection rising to the ceiling, constructed from the same material as the wall. Above the sink, a lightweight rack in solid beech organizes kitchenware. The refrigerator sits within a rolled birch box, adjacent to an open shelving unit, with a cantilevered beech storage box above. The base, visually separated from the countertop, is clad in stainless steel, defining functional areas and creating a luminous plinth that balances the almost primordial scale of the stone surfaces.
